Luminox was requested by the officer in charge of procurement to develop the first Navy SEAL
series in 1993. If a watch is durable enough for the world’s toughest elite forces, it will stand
up to any other rugged outdoor use.
This Colormark chronograph is the pinnacle of the highly successful Colormark Navy Seal series.
The look is more technical. So is the implementation of colored markings on black, white, blue,
orange or green dials, with bezel markings and hands to match. Night illumination is color-coordinated
mirroring the Colormark Seal series. The 44 mm case, case back and unidirectional ratcheting bezel are
all made of molded carbon-reinforced polymer. The crystal glass, a hardened and tempered mineral glass,
is highly scratch resistant. The double-gasket, push-in crown and construction of the watch case
ensure water resistance to 200 meters. The signature PU strap features the Luminox shield.
Luminox timepieces are manufactured like few others. The proprietary Luminox Light Technology and the additional
quality control steps Luminox (Luminox history) mandates require extraordinary attention to detail and care in manufacturing. All
Luminox watches are Swiss made in the brand’s state-of-the art factory in Biberist, Switzerland, but this series
undergoes additional rigorous testing at an off site facility also.
Each watch employs tiny self-powered micro gas lights developed by the world leader in the luminous
compound industry. These micro gas lights (borosilicate glass capsules) are installed into the hands,
hour markers, and when necessary, bezels of our watches. Luminox watches need no external light source
to "charge" the paint on the dial or hands in order to glow as do conventional luminous watches.
Nor do they require the push of a button to light the dial as do watches with electroluminescence. The U.S.
military has long recognized the advantages of micro gas light sources and their use is specified in
procurement specification MIL-W-46374F.
The self-powered illumination, Luminox Light Technology (LLT), allows you to view time-at-a-glance, no matter
what the light level, even in complete darkness. This ability to read time effortlessly fills a need for various
military and law enforcement groups. It is why the U.S. Navy SEALs Procurement officers and U.S. Air Force
pilots flying the F-117 Nighthawk™ Stealth Jets asked Luminox to create watches for their missions.
These are only two of many groups of "heroes" that truly understand and appreciate the inherent
benefit of wearing a Luminox timepiece.
